Top Places in Miami to Party on St. Patrick’s Day

Miami St. Patrick's DayAdmittedly, Miami isn’t the most Irish city in the country. It’s incredibly multicultural, but much of that culture comes from the Caribbean and Latin America, not from our Irish friends across the pond. Nevertheless, Miami is known for its nightlife, making it a great place to party 365 days out of the year. Of course, this includes one of the year’s ultimate party days: St. Patrick’s Day. So while Miami may not be all that Irish, here are some great places in Miami to party on St. Patrick’s Day.

37th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Festival

A great way to get your St. Patrick’s Day celebration underway is attending the annual St. Patrick’s Day Festival in Coral Gables. Taking place at the plush Ponce Circle Park on Saturday, March 12th from 12 PM to 6 PM, the festival is free to attend is guaranteed to be fun for the whole family. There will be Irish music galore, Irish dancers, Irish arts & crafts, and plenty of Irish delicacies for you to enjoy, including corned beef & cabbage, shepherd’s pie, soda bread, and authentic Irish coffee. For the kids, there will be a merry-go-round, bounce house, rock climbing, and a giant slide. Finally, for those who want to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day the old-fashioned way, there will also be a full service bar.

John Martin’s

John Martin’s is one of South Florida’s most popular Irish pubs and restaurants, and this year it will be hosting its 27th annual St. Patrick’s Day Party. Starting at noon on St. Patrick’s Day, St. Martin’s will have a host of Irish musical performances, including everything from bagpipes to the Irish fiddle. Then at 9 PM, the musical keys get handed over to a DJ, who will take partiers well into the night. Of course, being a much-celebrated Irish bar, John Martin’s will have plenty of Guinness flowing to go along with fantastic appetizers that will ensure your taste buds are more than satisfied all St. Patrick’s Day long.

Fado Irish Pub Miami in Mary Brickell Village

Located right in downtown Miami, Fado Irish Pub has become one of the most popular St. Patrick’s Day destinations in South Florida over the past few years. At this Irish bar in Mary Brickell Village, the party starts on Saturday March 12th and lasts all week. On Saturday the 12th, Fado is hosting the largest outdoor St. Patrick’s Day party in Miami, featuring a duel between DJs, as DJ BL Stylz battles DJ LS from Miami’s Battle 96 radio station. Romantic and Kid-Friendly Restaurants in Miami

Portrait of happy African American parents with son in swimmingFor young and middle-aged couples, planning a trip to Miami can be a bit like being stuck between a rock and a hard place. On the one hand, Miami can be a wonderful place for a romantic getaway, while on the other hand when you bring your whole family along for the trip it becomes necessary to find places that are kid-friendly. However, Miami may actually be the perfect vacation destination for parents in such a scenario. South Florida offers plenty of restaurants that are classy, stylish, and romantic, but at the same time are good places to bring your kids. Here are just a few of the Miami restaurants that are both romantic and kid-friendly.

Makoto

If you’d like your kids to get a taste for Japanese food, Makoto is a great place to go. There’s comfortable, Japanese-style seating and dim (but not too dim) lighting that creates a great mood and ambiance in the restaurant. There’s also outdoor seating available, and because Makoto is located the fishponds at Bal Harbour, there’s something there for the kids to enjoy. If you’re looking to get some sushi, there are few places in Miami better, but if your kids aren’t ready to stomach anything raw, there are plenty of great chicken dishes on the menu for them to enjoy.

Essensia

Located inside the Palms Hotel & Spa, Essensia is a beautiful restaurant where a couple can enjoy an intimate, candlelit meal. The restaurant has its own organic garden, which guests can tour and see first hand where the restaurant gets many of its farm-fresh ingredients. At Essensia, there’s no rush, so you can relax and enjoy yourself while they prepare a delicious meal with fresh and organic ingredients. For such an upscale restaurant that puts so much emphasis on sustainability, Essensia does not skimp when it comes to the kid’s menu, so you don’t have to be afraid to bring the kids with you to such a romantic setting.

Tongue & Cheek

With a relaxed atmosphere and a unique kids’ menu that includes delicious milkshakes, Tongue & Cheek is the perfect place to have an adult meal with your kids alongside you. The décor inside the restaurant is beautiful, and it’s not too loud to have a conversation, but with background music emanating throughout the dining room, no one will notice if your child has a minor outburst. Of course, the food is outstanding as well, as Tongue & Cheek has a tasty and upscale menu, whether you come for dinner or brunch.

La Cote

If your kids insist on being close to the beach, La Cote is the perfect outdoor setting for a romantic meal. In case you need to get the kids to bed early, La Cote is the perfect setting for a late lunch or early dinner. Located in the Fontainebleau Hotel, there’s plenty to see in and around the hotel that your kids will enjoy, including the nearby beach and the hotel’s five pools. Of course, you won’t mind the late afternoon breeze, the ocean view, or the Mediterranean cuisine you’ll find at La Cote.

For most people, a vacation in Miami is all about having fun in the sun, but that’s not all the city of Miami has to offer. Don’t get me wrong, that’s a huge part of Miami’s appeal, but the city also has plenty of places one can go for culture and perhaps even some education. Just as Miami is littered with beautiful beaches, there are also a plentiful amount of wonderful museums, and here are just a few that visitors to Miami should be encouraged to visit during their stay.

Vizcaya Museum and Gardens

The first museum that’s worth checking out is Vizcaya Museum and Gardens. Aside from being one of the most beautiful and romantic spots in Miami, this place is perfect for anyone who enjoys fine art or architecture. The museum is actually a house built by James Deering, an agricultural industrialist, in the 1910s. There are over two dozen rooms for viewing artwork from the Italian Renaissance as well as the house’s original furnishings, making it a great place to see art and learn about the history of Miami. If that’s not enough, the gardens surrounding the house are breathtaking, as is the view of the bay where the museum is located.

Museum of Contemporary Art

This is just one of several great locales for an art lover in Miami, but it also has plenty to offer for those who wouldn’t know a brilliant piece of art if it were staring them in the face, and at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Miami, there are plenty of brilliant pieces staring guests in the face. The museum offers over 600 pieces, including work by some of the best-known artists in the United States and throughout the world, as well as work by young and promising artists who could be the future stars of the art world. There are also temporary exhibits that are constantly changing, so that frequent travelers to Miami can stop by every time they’re in town and see something new.

Perez Art Museum

This place is the ultimate blend of a top-rate art museum and a beautiful water-front park. The Perez Art Museum is a fine place to go for viewing great pieces of modern and contemporary art, with a special emphasis on artists from the Caribbean and Latin America, two cultures with tremendous influence in the city of Miami. Of course, the artwork is only part of the reason to visit the Perez Art Museum. The museum is located right on Biscayne Bay, giving guests a beautiful view outside the museum and a plush green park in which to take a stroll either before or after seeing all the exhibits Perez Art Museum has to offer.

HistoryMiami

It’d be wrong to visit a place like Miami and not attempt to learn about the rich history and culture of it, and you can do just that at HistoryMiami. This museum does an amazing job of bringing together everything that encompasses life in Miami and South Florida throughout its history. HistoryMiami is home to thousands of artifacts from archaeological sites, home furnishings from throughout the 20th century, important maritime objects, and much more. The museum’s research center gives visitors access to over a million photographs, drawings, and documents that will help give you a better understanding of the history of South Florida. HistoryMiami also offers a wide array of historical tours of the city of Miami. These tours can be done on foot, bus, boat, or bike, and the museum will even design a customized tour so you can see exactly what you want to see. After a trip to HistoryMiami, you’ll never look at South Florida the same way again; it’s more than sunshine and beautiful beaches.

Top Kid-Friendly Hotels in Miami

luxury vacation with kidsYou don’t need me to tell you that Miami is a great place for a vacation getaway. However, the nightlife that Miami is known for doesn’t make it the most kid-friendly city. But that doesn’t mean you can’t bring your kids along with you on vacation in Miami, as the city has plenty to offer that kids will enjoy. The key is finding the right place to stay, so here are some of the most kid-friendly hotels in Miami.

Trump International Beach Resort

One of the best Miami destinations for those with kids is the Trump International Beach Resort. This hotel has an entire program called Planet Kids that’s dedicated to making sure the little ones have a good time. Planet Kids is a complimentary service for all hotel guests and puts together a full slate of activities for kids seven days per week from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The activities may revolve around sports, art, the environment, and more, all of which are both fun and educational for kids.

Planet Kids also puts on additional activities for kids on the weekends with an ice cream social every Friday and a pajama party every Saturday. The ice cream social includes everything you’d expect, while the pajama party is four hours on the beach with interactive science activities, arts & crafts, a dance party, and star gazing through a telescope.

If Planet Kids isn’t enough, Trump International Beach Resort also caters to kids in other ways. The hotel’s grotto-style pool includes a large shallow area, creating plenty of room for young swimmers. The hotel also has a mascot named Globie who’s always hanging around the pool area, adding another element of fun to the Trump International Beach Resort.

Loews Miami Beach Hotel

Another great option for visitors to Miami with children is Loews Miami Beach Hotel. This hotel offers guests age 4-12 participation in SoBe Kids Camp, which has half day and full day programs seven days a week and on Friday and Saturday nights. These programs include beach sports, arts & crafts, sand castle building, a scavenger hunt, and a slew of other activities that will keep kids occupied and entertained for long periods of time.

Loews also has a “Kids Closet” full of strollers, blankets, baby bathtubs, and other necessities young kids may need during their stay. The hotel also lends out toys, books, and even DVD players that will help keep kids occupied. The hotel pool is also rather kid friendly, as it’s quite large and shallow, giving kids plenty of space to splash around for hours at a time.

Fontainebleau Miami Beach

Finally, there is Fontainebleau Miami Beach, a hotel that is more than happy to go out of its way to give parents a break from their kids while on vacation. Fontainebleau offers babysitting services seven days per week, as well as half day and full day Kids Camp Room programs that engage kids in games, scavenger hunts, teambuilding exercises, and more, all while parents are free to enjoy themselves sans children. Of course, if parents want to spend quality time with their kids, the hotel has swings and several shallow pools that are ideal for kids, giving them plenty of options to enjoy themselves on the hotel grounds.

Biscayne National Park

Biscayne National ParkMiami, Florida is filled with natural beauty that you won’t find anywhere else. Many tourists flock to the area to enjoy nature at its finest and one of its main attractions is the Biscayne National Park. It’s the largest marine park in the nation covering 172,000 acres and over 90 percent of that is underwater. You can enter the park at Dante Fascell Visitor Center, which is located in Homestead, Miami. You’ll find a museum, the Jetty Trail and boat concessioners at the entrance of the park.

Four incredible and very different ecosystems come together to create the park. You have the Biscayne Bay, the mangroves, the coral reef and the Florida Keys. The mangroves are the longest found on the east coast of Florida and it makes a great habitat and breeding ground for a variety of fish and birds.

The Biscayne Bay is made up of both salt and fresh water. You’ll find all types of creatures such as the stone crab, tulip snail and spiny lobster in the seagrass along the bay. Soft coral and sponges make up the bottom and that is just the beginning. There are so many things to do at this National Park that you’ll need to make several trips to see and do it all but here are a few of the main attractions.

Take the Ferry to Elliott Key in Biscayne National Park

Elliott Key is the largest island in the park and visiting it is an adventure all its own. The only way to reach the island is by boat so make plans to take the Ferry, unless you bring your own watercraft. While on the island, you can enjoy picnicking, camping and swimming in the crystal clear water.

You can also walk the Spite Highway Trail that is seven miles long. Restrooms and showers are available along with fresh drinking water. However, it’s still a good idea to bring your own supply of water just in case something happened with the generator on the island.

Canoe or Kayak through the Mangroves

The best way to explore the mangroves is by taking a canoe ride or kayaking. This will give you a close up view of all the wildlife in the area. You can bring your own transportation or take advantage of the guided tours offered during the months of January through April. Just be sure to make reservations because they usually stay booked up.

While traveling through the mangroves, you’ll see dolphins, stingrays, nurse sharks, manatees and even jellyfish. There’s also a wide variety of tropical birds scattered throughout the area.

Go Snorkeling or Scuba Diving

Snorkeling and scuba diving is fun and exciting anywhere but the living coral reef located in the park is simply amazing. Snorkeling is a great option for most visitors and trips are scheduled to go out twice a day. Experienced divers can take a private charter to explore the amazing world beneath the waters.

In addition to the reef and wide variety of marine life, there are several shipwrecks to explore. Of course, not everyone wants to go into the water so if you prefer to stay dry, you can always take a tour on the glass bottom boat.

The only thing that can make visiting this national park better is booking your stay at one of the luxury hotels, condos or mansions located near the park and we can help. We specialize in the hospitality industry here at Luxury Rentals Miami Beach and we manage some of the most exclusive privately owned properties in the world.

If you love nature, you’re sure to enjoy spending a day or two at Biscayne National Park. It truly is as amazing as it sounds so start planning your trip today!

As you can see, Miami is a dog friendly city making it a great place for dog lovers to visit when on vacation.

Avoid Becoming a Victim of a Vacation Home Rental Scam

Luxurious Beach HouseMany vacationers prefer spending their luxury vacations in a rental home instead of a hotel or condo. One thing that makes these rentals so popular is that they offer more privacy than hotels and you have so many different options to choose from. For example, you can choose a small cozy villa for a romantic getaway or a mansion large enough to house twenty or more people.

When searching for the perfect rental place for your luxury vacation, you’ll find many beautiful mansions and villas located throughout Miami. These offer some or all of the same luxuries that you’ll find in a five star hotel. They are a great option but there is one problem. Now that more and more vacationers are looking for these private homes to rent, scammers are looking for ways to cash in.

Unfortunately, they are finding many clever ways to cheat you out of your hard-earned money, if you’re not careful. Scams involving vacation rental homes are popping up everywhere so take steps to protect yourself so you can have that amazing vacation you’ve been dreaming of all year.

What Happens If You’re Involved in a Vacation Home Rental Scam

Most people search the Internet to find the perfect rental for their vacation and then they make all of the arrangements either online or by phone. As a result, you don’t actually see the property until you arrive for your vacation. In most cases, the rental will be exactly what you expected and maybe even better.

However, when you end up being the victim of a scam, the home you thought you rented might not even exist. If it does exist, it may not belong to the person that rented it to you, which means that it will already be occupied or not for rent at all.

When you’re the victim of a scam, it can turn a carefully planned vacation into a stressful situation. It will leave you searching for a place to stay at the last minute. What’s worse is that the chance of you getting your money back from the scam is very slim. No one wants to be scammed and it can cause you many problems, which is why it’s so important for you to take steps to avoid becoming a victim.

How to Avoid Being Scammed

One of the first things that you can do to avoid being scammed when planning your luxury vacation, is to use a trusted company to book your stay. Here at Luxury Rentals Miami Beach, we have some of the most gorgeous mansions and villas you’ve ever seen and you don’t ever have to worry about scams.

Below are a few more suggestions that will help you avoid becoming a victim of a vacation home rental scam:

  • Always use a credit or debit card to reserve your rental. In the event it turns out to be a scam, you’ll have proof of payment and a better chance of getting your money back.
  • Look up the address of the rental property and use Google Map to make sure it exists and to see if the outside matches the photos posted online for that property.
  • Be observant and contact the company or property manager in different ways. For example, request information by email and give them a call. You can tell a lot from talking to someone, even over the phone. If they don’t have a phone number, think twice about doing business with them.
  • Check references and reviews on the property. If the luxury rental is legitimate, there should be reviews available online.

Just because you see a photo of a vacation home for rent online or an ad that seems real, don’t take for granted that the property is legitimate. Keep in mind that scammers are smart and they have found many clever ways to disguise themselves as being legitimate. If something looks suspicious, investigate further.

You can always give us a call and our friendly representatives will help you find the perfect rental for your luxury vacation in Miami.
